Celebrating healthcare success in the East Midlands

Medilink East Midlands, the regions specialist healthcare support organisation held its annual Healthcare Innovation Day at BioCity, Nottingham on 26th May 2005, thanks to the generous support of the event sponsors who included 3M Health Care.
The aim of the event was to promote healthcare innovation and celebrate the regions successes, and this year was attended by a record 170 people.
Delegates enjoyed presentations from two successful regional companies, Pharmaceutical Profiles and Active Healthcare, who discussed their experiences of ‘Commercialising Innovation’. There were also opportunities to participate in a number of interactive workshops, enter and view a poster competition, exhibit and view company stands, and network with the other delegates.
The day concluded with a key note address by John Wilkinson, Director General of the Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI).at the first ever Medilink EM Business Awards Dinner. The dinner was also an opportunity for the achievements of Innovative East Midlands’ Healthcare companies to be recognised.
The award for Most Innovative Biotechnology Company (sponsored by AstraZeneca) was won by Nottingham based Molecular Profiles Ltd, a contract research company specialising in the application of advanced analysis for the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
Food & Drug Analytical Services Ltd, won the Most Innovative New Start Up Award (sponsored by Browne Jacobson). FDAS are an independent contract testing laboratory which offers a wide variety of chemistry and microbiology tests.
The award for Most Innovative Medical Technology Company (sponsored by emda) and the Overall award which was sponsored by 3M Health Care, was won by Activa Healthcare.
Darren Clark, Medilink EM Acting Chief Executive, summed up the Day as “a great success that we put down to the tremendous support of our members, sponsors, and all those who entered for the awards.
