Food and Drug Analytical Services Ltd (FDAS), based at BioCity, the healthcare and bioscience innovation centre in central Nottingham, has received a major regional business award. At the Medilink East Midlands Healthcare Innovation Day on Thursday 26^th May, they were recognised as the Best Innovative New Start Up Company.
Chief Executive, Dr. Trevor Ray, stated “We are delighted to receive this award and see it as a great honour as there are so many new and exciting companies starting in the East Midlands. We have a very talented team of people at FDAS and this award is recognition of all their efforts. Without their hard work we would not be in a position to even contend for this prize.”
FDAS is a contract analytical services laboratory that started operations in November following receipt of funding from Catapult Venture Managers, HSBC and Yorkshire Bank. Since then they have installed a state of the art facility capable of providing an extremely broad range of analytical services that meet strict regulatory standards. This has enabled manufacturers that had historically been forced to manage several contract laboratories, to now focus on a single, reliable company.
Dr Glenn Crocker, BioCity CEO, commented “We are delighted that FDAS was chosen to receive the award; it is yet another demonstration of the quality of biopharma companies that are now being created in Nottingham.
FDAS predominantly serves the pharmaceutical and food manufacturing industries and nutritional supplement suppliers. It has a rapidly growing customer base that includes many of the household names from these industries.
“Having successfully started this new venture we are now enjoying the challenge of the next stage: to continue rapid and profitable growth” said Dr. Ray.
