Design competition for new packaging for Allmi-Care
Nottingham Trent University, Graphic Design Department and Allmi-Care, a Nottingham company based in BioCity, recently ran a design competition for new packaging for one of Allmi-Care’s products – Quool Patch, used for pain relief. Alan Marsh, Director of Allmi-Care, described the project as one of those genuine “Win – Win” situations.
“The Nottingham Trent University second year Graphic Design students were a terrific group; they all took part in the project as a real life case study to design three different sets of packaging for our Quool Patch; whilst we as a company had the benefit of more than 80 very bright and enthusiastic students designing our products’ “look and feel”.
It was really, really difficult to pick the winners from each category, however after a lot of market research and discussion these were finally chosen a couple of weeks ago.”
Alison Barnes, Programme Leader and second year tutor commented: “the competition provided an excellent opportunity for the students to develop a greater understanding of the professional context. The skills they have gained in areas such as dealing with a client brief and presenting work to a professional standard will be invaluable. ”
Each design category winner was given a certificate and well deserved prize for all their hard work and creativity. The winning students were: Shuo Li for her Quool Arthritis Pack; Alison Hedley for her Quool Sports Pack; and Alistair Dixon for his Quool Herbal Pack.
