Nottingham-based commercial law firm Geldards LLP has signed up to become a corporate partner to the expanding bioscience incubation centre at BioCity. Under the agreement, the firm will make available a range of legal services to businesses which are developing within BioCity’s highly regarded specialist incubation facilities. Geldards partner, David Tilly explained: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to support what is widely acknowledged as a Nottingham success story. The work BioCity is doing to underpin the growth of the biotechnology sector within the city and region has been very impressive and we are looking forward to playing our part in encouraging its further development. “As a firm, we’ve made a major investment in our Nottingham operations and we firmly believe in supporting initiatives which are geared to boosting the local economy. BioCity, which has recently expanded its facilities into a second phase, is already having a significant impact and is helping some of the country’s brightest and best biotech talent to flourish.” He added: “Any growing business working at the leading edge of science and technology needs the right kind of legal support – support which not only encourages enterprise but understands and recognises the particular needs of businesses operating in this sector.” “Clearly, with Nottingham also having been awarded Science City status, there will be a further drive to expand the city’s reputation for innovation and we are looking forward to being involved as opportunities arise.” Welcoming Geldards’ support, BioCity’s Chief Executive, Glenn Crocker said: “I believe Geldards are ideally placed to provide the vital support that early stage technology companies need and I am pleased to welcome them into BioCity’s Corporate Partner group.”
