Bioscientists and Biotechnology developers are being invited to apply for 30 fully-funded places on the 2008 Bio-Entrepreneur School hosted by BioCity Nottingham. The School, which ran for the first time in February this year, takes place from 26 – 28 February 2008 and is delivered by QED Consulting. Funding is provided by the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) through the Greater Nottingham Partnership. Anyone interested in applying should take a look at www.bioentrepreneur.co.uk and submit their details as soon as possible. The first selection of delegates will take place on 13 Dec 2007.
The Bio-Entrepreneur School is a three day, intensive programme designed to help delegates explore their entrepreneurial potential, develop essential enterprise skills and overcome confidence barriers to starting in business in this very specialist sector. Tutored by seasoned business professionals and specialists in legal, IP and financing of the sector, the chosen delegates can expect to gain a real insight into bioscience commercialisation.
Sponsors for 2008 bring technical expertise as well as funding to the School. They include lead sponsor Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) together with Nottingham Science City and patent experts AdamsonJones. Further support is being given by UK Trade & Investment, Nelsons, Connect Midlands and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Highlights of the 2008 School will be the ‘Meet the Entrepreneur’ reception, the opportunity to pitch commercial ideas to a panel of friendly ‘Dragons’ and a formal dinner addressed by a leading bio-entrepreneur.
