Biotel is a laboratory that is available for short time rent by companies on or off site.

The Biotel is ideally suitable for small research projects, training, teaching and demonstrations. It is equipped for basic microbiological and molecular biology work and includes access to BioCity’s shared resource facility.

Examples of uses:

Method Development:
Pall Life Science provide filtration, separation and purification solutions for various fluid management needs. They used the  Biotel to demonstrate their TFF (tangential flow filtration ) unit. Pall has installed their upscale filter cabinet as a permanent feature in the Biotel. This includes syringe filters and columns  for method development.

Exhibitions:
Fisher Scientific used the Biotel to exhibit their life science , analytical chemicals and laboratory products.

Training:
Biotel was used to run a 6th form workshop session which demonstrated stem cells from bone marrow that can be treated in vitro to generate bone cells.

Demonstration:
Buchi demonstrated their Nano Spray Dryer B-90 which showed the unique ability to generate particle sizes in the nano range for milligram sample quantities at high yields.
