Aurelia Bioscience is a contract research organisation providing cell and biochemical-based assay development, compound screening and pharmacological profiling expertise to clients within the Life science sector. Aurelia Bioscience strive to deliver new and innovative biological solutions to our clients and, to this end, we are developing novel 3-D biological assays thorough a collaboration with The ElectroSpinning Company sponsored by a “UK Innovate” grant.
Aurelia Bioscience seek to recruit a cell biologist to join our company at BioCity Nottingham funded by this grant. The successful candidate will have experience in a wide range of cell-based assays (for example using proliferation, viability and reporter gene readouts). Previous experience of other biological screening techniques (high content imaging, 3-D culture) would be advantageous but not essential.

The role will involve performing lab work, analysis and interpretation of results, meticulous record keeping and day-to-day planning of the research. Applicants should be highly organized with good attention to detail, be able to work to a consistently high standard and operate effectively as part of a highly motivated team.
The main purpose of your role will be as a lab-based scientist with responsibilities for:
- Culture and maintain a range of cell lines including primary cells
- Develop novel biological cell-based assays on electro spun materials
- Participate in collaborations with top-20 Pharmaceutical companies testing compounds in 3-D assays
- Conduct high throughput screening activities using 3-D material
In order to be considered for the role, you will be required to have the following qualifications, skills and/or experience:
- A life science degree in a relevant biological discipline
- Experience in mammalian cell culture
- Experience of developing biological assays
- Good team player, adaptable and flexible
Additional experience in techniques including high content imaging or molecular biology would be desirable but are not essential. The salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with laboratory experience and other relevant skills.
